Redeeming Love, a novel
By Francine Rivers
This
renowned Christian novelist weaves another fantastic tale of
forgiveness and rejuvenating life found only in Christ. It is based on
the story of Hosea, a prophet in the Bible who is told by God to marry a
prostitute. Ms. Rivers takes this story and places it in California, in
1850, during the Gold Rush. Not only is there a booming business for
merchants, who supply the gold miners, but there is also a booming
business for prostitutes. Ever since Angel was 8 years old, she has been
exploited by men. When Michael Hosea comes along and is told by God to
marry her, she despises him and only goes with him because she has no
choice. He perseveres in his love and gradually, she comes to know God's
love through Michael's love. But is love enough to heal her lifetime of
scars? Will she ever be able to be who God made her to be? Will she
ever be accepted by the people around her?
Note of warning: there is not explicit language but there is a lot of talk about nakedness. Advised for only mature readers.
