Kale, a fourteen year old o'rant slave living in Amara, one day finds a dragon egg in the river. After telling her master who decide to take it to the Capital of Amara, Vendela, but things do not go the way Kale had planned. Instead she is attack by one of the Seven Lower Races, when she escapes she hides in a cave which brings her to find more dragon eggs, and to make new friends, Leetu Bends and Dar of Paladins court.

Kale now must travel with them as are the orders from Paladin, warrior of Wulder. But thing still don't go the easy way. One of Kale's companions is kidnapped which plunges her into a full pledged rescue. And on top of that Kale also has the duty of finding a meech dragon egg, the rarest of all dragons, which is being held by the evil wizard Risto.
